The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was clean and functional — nothing fancy, but everything worked properly. The AC was a lifesaver during the summer heat, and the bed was actually more comfortable than I expected. You know what impressed me? The attention to basic details like fresh linens and a properly functioning bathroom. It’s clear they’ve figured out what travelers actually need versus what looks good in photos. The windows face the bustling street below, so you get a real slice of Delhi life, though light sleepers might want to pack earplugs.

Service & Atmosphere

Here’s something interesting — this place has a lot of repeat guests, and after staying there, I can see why. The staff genuinely seems to remember people, which creates this oddly homey feeling in the middle of one of the world’s busiest cities. They’re helpful without being pushy, and they actually know the neighborhood well enough to give you solid recommendations. The front desk helped me figure out the metro system on my first day, which honestly saved me hours of confusion.

  Friendly and helpful staff. No cockroaches is a definite plus in Delhi. Located off the main drag so as quiet as can be expected during Diwali. I'd return.

  The room was big, nice, with a little balcony, ac and fan working, small fridge, very comfortable bed, good shower gel, good location for Paharganj.
  
  What could be improved: Actually hotel Fantastic doesn’t exist, the real hotel is Hindustan by backpackers, I didn’t like the mystery until we arrived. The receptionist was a bit rude, accepted our good booking.com price just for one night than he raise 700 rs. The toilet seat was broken, there was a bad smell in the toilet, the grate for the shower drain was not fixed and sometimes the hole was unprotected. Food of restaurant was average.

  What I like about the place were the accommodative staff. The staff were super helpful and quick to fulfil any requests, from serving food to the room, providing extra towels, sheets or any other cleaning requests. The food at the hostel was good. Had the best biriyani from the whole trip there.
  
  What could be improved: Only downside is the street outside. It might not be for everyone. The lane was rather dirty with garbage scattered throughout the street. It's not situated in the cleanliest part of Delhi. But it is walking distance to the street bazars, cafes and bars.

  Staff was good, room was also good with decent wifi speed.

  There are 2 metro stations near by one in walking distance other little further but worth a rickshaw with bags. I would recommend this for travelling around Delhi and from airport much cheaper and very efficient compared to taxi hostel offers.
  
  What could be improved: First it's not called Delhi Fantastic, you won't find it with this name. Instead it's called Hindustan by Backpackers Heaven. We were looking for the hostel for almost an hour arriving at this street and leaving after not finding it.
  We tried ringing hostel and took multiple attempts to get through to learn of it's diffrent name.
  Also only wanted cash which wasn't mentioned before booking.

  What could be improved: Name on booking.com is different from hostel correct name was difficult to locate. Talked to other backpackers and their name for hostel was also different from mine and not correct. This happens all over India and is very common I have found.
