Wongdhen House Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Wongdhen House feels like discovering a well-kept secret in the heart of Delhi. This three-star property sits right in Majnu ka Tilla — honestly, if you know anything about Delhi’s Tibetan quarter, you’ll understand why this location is such a gem. The building itself is modest, but there’s something genuinely welcoming about the place that hits you the moment you step inside. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, which I actually found refreshing after staying at some of those overly polished chain hotels.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Here’s what most people don’t realize about Majnu ka Tilla — you’re basically staying in Delhi’s little Tibet, and that means incredible food, authentic culture, and a completely different vibe from the rest of the city. I mean, you can walk out of Wongdhen House and grab some of the best momos in Delhi within five minutes. The area has this laid-back energy that’s hard to find elsewhere in the capital, plus you’re still well-connected to major attractions. Couples seem to get this — they’ve rated the location 8.3, and I can see why. There’s something romantic about wandering these narrow lanes together, discovering tiny cafes and shops.
Your Room Experience
The room I stayed in was clean and functional — nothing fancy, but everything worked properly, which honestly matters more than marble bathrooms when you’re exploring a city all day. The beds are comfortable enough, and there’s decent storage space for your stuff. What I appreciated most was how quiet it stays at night, despite being in such a bustling neighborhood. The air conditioning works well too, which you’ll definitely need during Delhi summers. It’s the kind of place where you sleep well and wake up ready to explore.
Practical Perks
The staff here actually knows the area — they’re not just reading from a script when you ask for directions or recommendations. I got some great tips about local restaurant spots that I never would have found otherwise. The front desk is helpful with arranging transportation, and they understand that most guests are here to experience the unique culture of this neighborhood. WiFi works consistently throughout the property, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed. There’s also a sense that they genuinely care about your experience rather than just processing check-ins and check-outs.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Wongdhen House isn’t going to wow you with fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy lobbies. What it does offer is an authentic Delhi experience in one of the city’s most interesting neighborhoods, solid basics done well, and a location that guests consistently rate highly for good reason. If you want to experience a different side of Delhi — one with Tibetan prayer flags, incredible street food, and a community feel — this is your spot. The 8.2 rating reflects exactly what you get: a reliable, well-located place that serves as a perfect base for exploring both the local area and greater Delhi.
Early hotels booking in Delhi secures spa suites for Holi, VIP fashion week seats, and heritage dinner reservations.

Reviews of Wongdhen House
Ekaterina from India – 4 April 2025 (9/10)
The hotel is very nice and clean still. Liked the sushi at the restaurant.
What could be improved: Majnu ka tilla is changing into another touristy location with beggars and garbage. That is very sad. Otherwise, i always love to stay in this hotel when i come to Delhi. I take the room with the view, but windows become more dirty every year. That can be improved too.Yaeli18 from Israel – 27 October 2024 (8/10)
Great location, the room was good and clean. comfortable bed! There are goog restaurants and a good wibe.
What could be improved: The staff is very noisy and they move fernitures at 6:00am without thinking of the guests who are sleeping at that time.David from Australia – 15 September 2024 (9/10)
Clean, modern facilities and excellent staff
What could be improved: Muddy pathways.Valentina from Italy – 22 August 2024 (8/10)
The hotel is nice and clean, rooms are fairly sized. There is a terrace bar and a restaurant at the ground floor. The price was fair.
What could be improved: The location of the Majnu Ka Tilla neighbour, a sort of Tibetan enclosure, is far from metro station and any delhi attraction/site. The situation outside the gates is quite degradedChiara from Italy – 18 August 2024 (8/10)
The stay was pleasant, the hotel is located in a small Tibetan community in a position away from the city center, a tuktuk is essential to reach it. The room was clean and new. The staff was kind and helpful.

the location which is quiet and that is a big deal in Delhi!
the 2 restaurant attached and the room service of the restaurant.
Quick response from staff when something is needed.
What could be improved: bedroom a little smallGuido from Italy – 30 July 2024 (8/10)
We absolutely loved the Tibetan square! Great place to stay and very good food everywhere. The House is ok not luxury but you can have a very good breakfast in the top of the building. All people is kind also if we arrived very late in the night.
What could be improved: The room is a little old and it could be more clean! But towels and sheets was very clean.Sangay from Bhutan – 11 July 2024 (8/10)
Room comfort & amenities
What could be improved: The make staff lacked decency & behavior. Few male staff never gave way near the reception. Instead continued making loud noises & playing with each other & blocked the way to elevator & reception.Isabelle from Canada – 11 April 2024 (7/10)
What could be improved: They have the weird idea of refurbishing their hotel at night. The workers made a lot of noise. I had come from North America, was completely jet lagged and could not sleep!
Prashant from India – 18 March 2024 (9/10)
Everything was great.
What could be improved: After enjoying dinner at the restaurant owned by the property, I kindly asked if they could arrange breakfast for me early the next morning since I had to catch a train. However, their response was not very cooperative. I suggested something simple like boiled eggs, but unfortunately, they seemed unable to accommodate my request.
