Paharganj gets a bad rap sometimes, but I mean, that’s exactly why this place works so well. You’re literally in the heart of backpacker central on Chuna Mandi, which sounds chaotic (and it sort of is), but you’re also walking distance from New Delhi Railway Station and the main bazaar. The thing is, couples really seem to love it here — there’s something about being in the thick of Old Delhi’s energy while having a proper retreat to come back to. Plus, you know what’s great? They have free private parking, which is basically gold dust in this part of the city.

The Room Experience

The rooms surprised me, honestly. They’re more spacious than you’d expect given the location, and the air conditioning actually works — trust me, that matters when you’re dealing with Delhi heat. The beds are comfortable enough that you’ll sleep well despite the street noise (though honestly, the sounds of Paharganj become part of the charm after a day or two). What I appreciated most was the attention to cleanliness — everything feels fresh and well-maintained, which isn’t always a given in this price range.

Here’s where The Prime Delhi really shines — their breakfast situation is actually impressive. We’re talking continental, Italian, full English, plus vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free, kosher, Asian, and American options. I mean, they’ve covered basically every dietary requirement you can think of, which is pretty thoughtful for a four-star hotel. The buffet setup works well, but they also do breakfast to go if you’re rushing off to catch a train or start sightseeing early. The quality is solid too — not just quantity for the sake of it.

  Great hotel with great facilities and staff. Beds are so comfortable. Great breakfast, lots of choices.

  Very nice hotel but location is very difficult as major Cab drivers refuse to go in the busy street. There was no wardrobe in the room making life difficult. Food was excellent at roof top. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Very nice and clean hotel.

  Mr Amar was very helpful in offering airport pick up and city tour.
  It's the best hotel of the area as far as I could see.
  Breakfast was surprisingly good. The chap makes a decent omelette.
  Gym is okay, there's a roof terrace and a spa.
  
  What could be improved: I know the area is very dusty but the whole place could do with a big spring cleaning.

  the general staff was excellent. The facilities were clean and the room spacious. The dinning staff was friendly an helpful. the food offered was good and economical. try the rice pudding.
  
  What could be improved: the front desk did not honor the bathroom upgrade granted by Booking. the bathroom layout inconvenient and dangerous with raised curbs for open showers.
  The furnishings were nice but showed signs of deterioration. The neighborhood was appalling. Not safe to walk around.

  The hotel is close to central places in Delhi and appears overall clean. The bed is comfortable and gets done on a daily base. It provides plenty of bottled water as well as soap, so that the general needs are met. Among the hotels I've stayed in Delhi, this one had the best value.
  
  The neighborhood appears very rough for a westerner. Talking to locals, it is indeed not the most glamorous one, but it is also not terrible. Moving around it as a white male, I wasn't approached or bothered more than in other parts of the city and people generally mind their own business. So after a period of adjusting to Dehli, you'll be fine there as well.
  
  What could be improved: There's some wear to the furniture (nothing major) and some surfaces showed stains that looked a bit like coffee. This would've easily been fixable if I mentioned it, however.
  
  Hot water might be slow to come, but once it is there, it remains there, so also not a big problem.
  
  The manager will take you aside after your first night to offer you a trip through the golden triangle for several days (includes a car with driver who acts as a tour guide and the hotels, additional expenses for food, tickets, parking etc will be yours). The main selling points are: it's unsafe on your own (and people will try to rip you off everywhere), it's very convenient, it's very cheap, and everybody does it (evidence shown in form of multiple guest reports in a book). This can come off as insisting. Talking to local friends, depending on the quality of the hotels, this might actually be a good deal, so if you consider a guided trip, it might be worth to investigate a bit more.
