First Impressions

The SMART PLAZA HOTEL-At Airport sits right at Mahipalpur Flyover, and honestly, you can’t miss it when you’re heading to or from Indira Gandhi International Airport. I mean, the location is pretty much perfect if you need to catch an early flight or you’ve just landed and want to crash somewhere decent without dealing with New Delhi traffic. It’s a solid three-star property that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — just clean, comfortable, and surprisingly well-run for an airport hotel.

What really surprised me was how much couples seem to love this spot — they’re rating the location 8.7 out of 10, which is actually pretty impressive. You’re literally minutes from the airport terminals, but you know what? It doesn’t feel like you’re stuck in some industrial wasteland. The Mahipalpur area has plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance, and if you need to head into central Delhi, the metro connection isn’t too far. The parking situation is fantastic too — free private spots, which is honestly a relief when you’re dealing with rental cars or taxis.

The Room Experience

The rooms are exactly what you’d expect from a well-managed airport hotel — clean, functional, and surprisingly quiet considering how close you are to the runways. I was worried about aircraft noise, but the soundproofing is actually decent. Each room has all the basics you need: good air conditioning (crucial in Delhi), reliable WiFi, and a bathroom that’s small but spotless. The beds are comfortable enough that you’ll actually get some rest, which isn’t always a given at airport properties.

Breakfast & Dining

The breakfast spread here is honestly one of the better ones I’ve encountered at a three-star hotel. They’ve got this buffet setup with Continental options, Asian dishes, American classics, and proper vegetarian and Halal choices — which makes sense given Delhi’s diverse crowd. The restaurant staff seems to really know their stuff, and they’re quick to refill the hot items. I particularly liked that they had both Indian and Western options that were actually done well, not just thrown together as an afterthought.

Recent guests have been rating this place 8.3 for location, and after staying here, I totally get why. It’s one of those hotels that just works — you’re not paying for fancy amenities you don’t need, but everything that matters is handled properly. The staff is genuinely helpful (they’ll arrange airport transfers without trying to overcharge you), and the whole operation runs smoothly. For travelers who need to be near the airport but don’t want to sacrifice comfort or deal with sketchy accommodations, this place hits that sweet spot between practical and pleasant.

  The accommodation environment is okay, with sufficient water pressure. The hot milk at breakfast is very delicious.
  
  What could be improved: The entrance to the accommodation is in a small alley, making it difficult for taxis to enter. The room facilities are relatively simple and outdated. We book the twin room but they only offer us one bed room.

  The most positive aspect of staying at this hotel is the professional staff and excellent service. The rooms are good sized with a table, chairs, and small couch, and the beds are very comfortable. The beds also have a mattress pad – which I found lacking in all my other stays, and the sheets are of better quality and without stains. The price is a good value, but the area is not ideal for walking around. This hotel is a good place to stay if you need to be near the airport. I also appreciated that room service is available 24 hours and I found the food to be quite good.
  
  What could be improved: The rooms could use a deep clean on a regular basis. I needed to use the air conditioning unit and found the filters to be absolutely caked with dust. I washed them myself. I also found that while the surfaces were clean, the underside of the toilet bowl had quite a buildup of dried urine, and the tiled walls around the bathroom had not been frequently cleaned. I do believe the housekeeping staff does a fine job of quickly cleaning and changing over the rooms, and it is up to the management to delegate separate deep cleaning of the rooms. Also ongoing maintenance such as caulking, and replacing faucets and door knobs as they become rusty would be helpful.

  The staff were very pleasant and helpful with check-in process and facilitating the storage of luggage for a travel absence until return and also organising taxi transport to the airport.

  Friendly staff. For a one night stay it was very convenient. Everything was working including tv, wifi, fridge, air conditioning. Dinner was very good. Was able to exchange money and getting transport was easy.
  
  What could be improved: A few repairs needed. As a foreigner it's difficult to rate hotels in India. My guess would have been 2-3 star but Booking.Com has it as 4 star. Not actually at the airport but not far away.
