New Delhi Hotel Citizen Overview

First Impressions

When I first pulled up to New Delhi Hotel Citizen in Mahipalpur, I’ll be honest — it’s not the flashiest place you’ll see. But you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you need. This three-star property sits quietly in a residential block near Bank of Baroda, and there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup. The staff greeted me with genuine warmth, not the rehearsed smiles you get at bigger chains, and I could tell right away this was going to be one of those places where they actually remember your name.

Location That Actually Works

Here’s the thing about Mahipalpur — most people just think of it as that area near the airport, but it’s actually pretty strategic if you know New Delhi at all. You’re close enough to the airport that early flights don’t feel like torture (honestly, such a relief), but you’re also well-connected to the city center without paying those crazy central Delhi prices. The couples who stay here seem to get it — they’ve rated the location 8.9, and I can see why. There’s a local market within walking distance where you can grab actual Delhi street food, not the tourist stuff.

The Room Experience

My room was clean and functional — nothing fancy, but everything worked properly, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed. The AC was a blessing during Delhi’s brutal summer heat, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. I mean, you’re not getting marble bathrooms or designer furniture here, but the basics are solid. The Wi-Fi actually worked throughout my stay, which honestly impressed me more than it should have. Sometimes you just want a place where you can crash after a long day of exploring without any drama.

Breakfast and Practical Perks

The breakfast spread caught me off guard in the best way. They’ve got Continental options if you want to play it safe, but the Asian dishes are where they really shine — proper South Indian dosas and North Indian parathas that taste like someone’s grandmother made them. The American options are there too, though I’d stick with the local stuff if I were you. What really sold me was the free parking — try finding that anywhere else in Delhi without paying through the nose. It’s these little things that add up when you’re traveling on a budget.

Why Guests Love It

Look, New Delhi Hotel Citizen isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly why it works. You get honest value, a location that makes sense for both airport access and city exploration, and staff who seem to actually care about your stay. The couples who keep coming back have figured out what I did — sometimes the best travel experiences happen at places that focus on getting the fundamentals right rather than flashy amenities you’ll never use. If you’re looking for a straightforward, reliable base in Delhi without the tourist markup, this place delivers.

Delhi hotels keep guests close to Humayun’s Tomb, Khan Market bistros, and craft bazaars.

Very easy to find the hotel and the staff of this hotel is very friendly and knowledgeable

  • Manish from India – 23 May 2024 (7/10)

What could be improved: TV was broken, restroom amenities should be supplied better, etc, blanket was not good at all

  • Eva from Sweden – 18 March 2024 (6/10)

What could be improved: They falsely claimed to be located in Aerocity, even placing a marker therey on Google Maps. Instead they were located across the major highway giving our taxi an extra kilometer or so before finding it in a completely different place.
On our last evening in India, we checked whether the hotel could get a taxi for our early morning flight, which they did without problems. We specifically asked if we could pay by card, as we didn't have enough rupees left and were told "of course". The next morning they refused payment by card forcing us to pay 5USD for a 400 rp ride.

  • Aashish from India – 28 November 2023 (6/10)

Location of the property. Walking distance from Aerocity

What could be improved: Property was very noisy and food was not good. The linen was torn and room looked very dull.

  • Rose from Australia – 6 September 2022 (8/10)

All the staff went above and beyond to accomodate my needs, especially the very kind Deepak who helped me from the airport and continued to help me when I needed things at the hotel. I was very impressed with his professionalism and willingness to please. The other employees also went above and beyond to fill
My needs. Great hotel if you need to be close to the airport.

What could be improved: The overall cleanliness could have been better (but I am used to western hotels) and a few things mentioned in the ad were not included (fridge ect). But it didn’t really affect my one night stay.

  • Akash from India – 12 June 2022 (8/10)
