Hotel Sunstar Residency Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Hotel Sunstar Residency, you immediately get the sense that this is a place that knows its strengths. It’s not trying to be something it isn’t — this three-star property in New Delhi focuses on getting the basics absolutely right. The lobby feels welcoming without being flashy, and honestly, after dealing with Delhi’s chaotic streets, that calm atmosphere hits just right. You can tell from the moment you check in that the staff actually cares about making your stay work.

The Karol Bagh Advantage

Here’s what I love about the location — you’re right in the heart of Karol Bagh, which means you’re surrounded by some of the best shopping and street food in the city. The W.E.A. Channa Market is literally at your doorstep, so if you need anything from electronics to clothes to those little travel essentials you forgot to pack, you’re sorted. I mean, couples are rating this location 9.4 out of 10, and after spending time here, I totally get why. You can walk to the metro station, grab incredible paranthas for breakfast, and still feel like you’re in a proper neighborhood rather than some touristy bubble.

Your Room and Comfort

The rooms are exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged. Nothing fancy, but everything works properly, which honestly matters more than marble bathrooms when you’re exploring Delhi all day. The room I stayed in had good air conditioning (crucial in Delhi), decent WiFi, and enough space to actually unpack your suitcase. The beds are properly comfortable too — not too soft, not too firm, just right for getting good sleep after walking around Red Fort or Chandni Chowk all day.

Food and Practical Perks

The buffet breakfast is actually pretty solid — they’ve got both Indian and continental options, so whether you want fresh parathas or toast and eggs, you’re covered. What really surprised me was how good the South Indian items were; the dosas were crispy and the sambhar had proper flavor. Plus, there’s free parking available, which if you know Delhi, is basically like finding gold. Most places in Karol Bagh charge extra for parking or don’t have it at all, so this is a genuine advantage if you’re driving or taking taxis frequently.

Why Guests Love It

You know what makes this place work? It’s the combination of being genuinely well-located without the premium prices you’d pay in Connaught Place or near India Gate. The recent guest rating of 9.0 for location isn’t just numbers — it reflects how easy it is to actually experience Delhi from here. You can walk to great local restaurant options, catch the metro to Old Delhi or New Delhi railway station, and still come back to a quiet, well-managed hotel at night. It’s that sweet spot where you get authentic Delhi neighborhood vibes with reliable comfort and service.

Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Delhi before cricket finals fill stadiums and traffic corridors.

First off, trying to find a hotel in Delhi online is daunting. They seem to be rife with fake reviews and photoshopped picture. Go into this place with an open mind. The staff is great. They made sure I had water and didn't make me pay until after my stay. The room was clean enough for me. The AC was cold. The TV worked. There's a minifridge with waters in it. Best of all- no bedbugs. There's no funky smells or anything, but you do smell some people cook breakfast. I didn't check out much of the area, and this is my first time in India, so I can only compare it to the rest of Southeast Asia. The room is expensive for what you get, but it's probably on par with $25/night hotels in the US (if there are any left.) It looks like all accomodations in Delhi are on par with the US or even more expensive. You get what you pay for. Don't go into it thinking it will be as beautiful as the pictures, but that's everywhere. Oh, they have security and help take your bags to your room as well. I think they will also book trips as they are very helpful. I only stayed 2 nights because I only came to india to get surgery at BLK-MAX hospital next door. The hospital is close enough to walk to even with a lower spine injury. Now I'll cover the negatives, which aren't really negatives but just to let you know what you're in for.

What could be improved: I thought the toilet wouldn't flush at first, but you just have to push down hard on the leaver. There was no hot water in my shower, but someone else who stayed there said they had a breaker or something to switch on near the shower to get hot water. The furniture/mirrors/fixtures are all old. The shower head looked like it had mold, but I think it's just tarnished. The wifi was spotty, so I had to go to the lobby to make phone calls home. The bedding and blankets were decent. A few stains, but that's to be expected. The bath towels are old. They used to be white, but now they're grey and crispy. The shower didn't seem to work when I first turned it on, but you have to wait 30 seconds or so for the water to start flowing. If you can deal with that and you aren't too bougie, it's a decent stay. There was some construction going on (just a small repair), and they waited until 9 am to start making noise, but grinding and chipping concrete in the stairwell is pretty loud. I work in construction, though, and I get it, repairs need to be done, and there is no good time to do them when you have guests. From my research, this area is overcrowded and polluted, so if you're looking for a nicer area to stay, check out South Deli. Do your due diligence.

  • Rugile from United Kingdom – 3 April 2024 (9/10)

Great area, very central, but not on a busy street, near Karol Bagh market. It was clean and the shower had hot water, we also got bottled waters provided everyday 😊

What could be improved: The only thing I would say is we stayed downstairs so it could get a little noisy at night, but I don’t think that would be a problem in upper floors at all

  • Wijesundara from Sri Lanka – 15 February 2024 (9/10)

    What could be improved: Nothing.
