Hotel Anand – Walk in from New Delhi Railway Station Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Hotel Anand – Walk in from New Delhi Railway Station after stepping off a train is honestly such a relief — you’re literally minutes away from the chaos of New Delhi Railway Station, but somehow this three-star place manages to feel like a proper retreat. The name says it all, really; you can practically roll your luggage straight from the platform to the lobby without breaking a sweat. I mean, after those long Indian train journeys, the last thing you want is to navigate crowded streets with your bags.

Location & Neighborhood

Paharganj gets a bad rap sometimes, but honestly, it’s one of those neighborhoods that grows on you once you understand its rhythm. Yes, it’s busy and a bit gritty, but that’s also what makes it authentically New Delhi — none of that sanitized tourist bubble stuff. You’ve got street food vendors right outside (the samosas are actually incredible), and you can walk to Connaught Place in about twenty minutes if you’re feeling adventurous. The area is packed with budget travelers and backpackers, so there’s this constant energy that I found pretty infectious.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was clean and functional — not fancy, but definitely comfortable enough for a good night’s sleep. What surprised me was how quiet it was considering the location; they’ve clearly put some thought into soundproofing. The air conditioning works well (crucial during Delhi summers), and the Wi-Fi was reliable throughout my stay. You know what I appreciated most? The hot water was consistent, which isn’t always a given in this price range.

Breakfast & Dining

The vegetarian breakfast here is actually pretty solid — they serve up fresh parathas, dal, and some decent South Indian options that change daily. It’s simple, homestyle cooking that feels authentic rather than trying to cater to every possible international palate. The restaurant area is small but welcoming, and the staff genuinely seems to care about making sure you’re fed well before heading out to explore the city.

Why Guests Love It

Couples seem to really appreciate this place, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about arriving in a new city together and having a comfortable base that’s right in the thick of things but still feels safe and welcoming. The staff goes out of their way to help with travel arrangements and local recommendations, which makes a huge difference when you’re trying to navigate Delhi for the first time. Plus, the value is honestly hard to beat; you’re getting a clean, comfortable stay with breakfast included, and you can’t put a price on that convenience of being so close to the railway station when you’re planning to explore other parts of India.

Locals suggest to book apartments in Delhi around Greater Kailash for cafe culture, artisan markets, and leafy lanes.

  • Damian from Netherlands – 13 October 2024 (8/10)

Rooms with balcony have daylight (sunshine) coming into the rooms – recommended. Staff is super polite and very helpful. Very pleasant stay, very clean hotel. Super location.

What could be improved: Wifi is non-existent on the 3rd floor with rooms on the balcony side. Rooms without balcony are dark catacombs without windows and without daylight, with only glass in the wall to dark corridor. They have no air and smell badly. Rooms with balconies don't smell. A TV sometimes runs out of money, and they have to recharge its balance by purchasing extra TV time. Otherwise, positive stay and do not regret it (only thanks to changing the room to room on balcony side)
